Chapter 7

Tammy’s Epiphany with Coffee

After the Christmas party, Heather and Lance talk again privately in Beverly’s sitting room and agree to work together to give Tammy an intervention meeting addressing her coffee habit, with her dad’s leadership. So Tammy’s dad agrees to stay in town through the New Year’s holiday.

Heather and Lance then walk from Beverly’s sitting room, and Lance and Jason are the only guests left at Beverly’s house.

Tammy walks toward her parents and says, “It is so good to see both of you together.”

Beverly is sitting on her living-room sofa, smiling.

Lance asks, “Where is Jason?”

Tammy smirks and says, “Uncle Jason is walking outside with Julia.”

Lance smiles and looks at Heather. He replies, “Okay, I guess I better meet him at my rental car. He may be waiting for me.”

Lance continues, “Ms. Beverly, thank you for a nice lunch. I really enjoyed myself, and I missed not seeing you all these years, and I want to say with gratitude, thank you for taking good care of my little girl.”

Heather smiles and says, “Yes,” agreeing with Lance.

Beverly says with happiness, “She has been a joy to raise, and with the help of Heather for the last several years.”

Tammy says, “Dad, I am so grateful you are in town and you took the time to meet me and then Mother here. I know that took courage, and Mother, I am humbly glad you and her are cordial with each other and met today for my sake like we are a family again.”

Tammy gives both of her parents a strong embrace.

Tammy asks her dad, “How many days will you and Uncle Jason remain in town?”

Tammy’s dad says, “I decided to stay until after New Year’s, and I am sure your uncle Jason will be on board with this too. The church will be fine without us, and they were aware we were possibly going to stay until after New Year’s.”

Beverly looks at Heather’s face to see her reaction, and Heather is just smirking a little.

Heather says to Tammy, “Your dad and I want to finish catching up on conversation while he is in town, and we also wanted to meet with you together on New Year’s Eve for a family meeting.”

Beverly knows what Heather is talking about, and does not show any sign of concern with her face so Tammy will not be suspicious to what the meeting is about.

“Okay, that is great, Mother and Dad!” Tammy says with enthusiasm.

“All right, young lady, you call my hotel room tomorrow, and we will plan when you can stop by for the next few days for Daddy-and-daughter time. Maybe we can go to town for some more gift-shopping for some things you may want from the store.”

“Sure, I am with that!” Tammy says with joy.

Lance looks at Heather with care and says, “See you soon.”

Heather replies, “Yes, for sure, and good to see you after all these years, Lance.”

Tammy’s dad nods as he notices Julia drive away in her car with her son, and Jason is getting his and Tammy’s dad’s rental car.
